Talking Book Topics is available online at www.loc.gov/nls/tbt, in audio format as a book to add to your next cartridge, and downloadable from BARD as a magazine or as a book. Contact the Library if you wish to have it mailed to you as a magazine-on-cartridge subscription.


About the Online Catalog Menu


SEARCH allows you to search the library's catalog by author, title, subject, or keyword.

BROWSE provides lists of recently added and popular titles, audio-described movies, and locally recorded Wisconsin books.

QUICK REQUEST allows you to request titles to receive by mail by typing in book numbers.

MY ACCOUNT allows registered users to log in and manage their account and place orders to be mailed. If you don't know your log in information, please contact the library at 1-800-242-8822 or 414-286-3045.


Search Tips


  • Click on the SEARCH button. Then type what you're looking for in the QUERY box. This can be an author's name, a title, a subject, or a keyword. In most cases, this will bring up what you are looking for. Make sure everything is spelled correctly. The catalog cannot retrieve words or names it does not recognize.

  • If you wish to refine your search use the INDEX menu. Select the kind of search you are asking for, again this would be author, title, subject, etc.

  • Use the RELEVANCE menu to refine your search even further.

  • Once your SEARCH RESULTS are listed, use the menu along the left side of the page to narrow down your results. Clicking on the SUBJECT category will show you just the results with that category. Clicking the BLUE MINUS CIRCLE beside each subject category will REMOVE those subjects from your list.

  • You can request or put a rush on books listed as IN PROCESS. Those will be added to your waiting list and come to you as soon as they are available.
